Not a big story in a game in Morley where 13th ranked Eagles (1-4) were defeated by sixth ranked Hawks (3-2) 87-74 on Friday. American center Brian Carlwell (211-87, college: San Diego St.) stepped up and scored 23 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and power forward Josh Garlepp (203-89) chipped in 16 points. The former international forward Rhys Vague (203-96) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and swingman Drew Williamson (196-83, college: Metro St.) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hawks maintains sixth place in League with 3-2 record. Loser Eagles dropped to the twelfth position with four games lost. Hawks will face higher ranked Wanneroo (#5) in Joondalup in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Eagles will play on the road against Lightning (#10) in North Lake and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
