Regular Season Round 16: Los Mochis - Agua Prieta 83-88

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 9th ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (5-8) were defeated at home by tenth ranked Vaqueros (4-9) 88-83 on Friday. Vaqueros made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. The game was also dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Steven Pledger (193-90, college: Oklahoma) who helped to win the game recording 30 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Ashton Gibbs (188-90, college: Pittsburgh) who added 21 points during the contest. At the losing side Leon Gibson (206-91, college: Houston) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds and guard Craig Blackmon (193-87, college: Texas Tyler) scored 11 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Four Vaqueros and five Pioneros Los Mochis players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Vaqueros maintains tenth position with 4-9 record. Loser Pioneros Los Mochis keep the ninth place with eight games lost. Vaqueros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pioneros Los Mochis will play again against Vaqueros (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
