Regular Season Round 17: Culiacan - Hermosillo 93-76

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (11-5) on the court of fifth ranked Caballeros de Culiacan on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Caballeros de Culiacan 93-76. They made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Trinidad and Tobago-American point guard Ian Young (191-81, college: Auburn, agency: Interperformances) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. American power forward Benjamin Puckett (205-83, college: Clayton St.) contributed with 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Five Caballeros de Culiacan players scored in double figures. American power forward Paul Butorac (208-83, college: E.Washington) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and the other American import swingman Michael Craig (196-91, college: S.Mississippi) added 23 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Rayos de Hermosillo. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Caballeros de Culiacan maintains fifth place with 8-6 record. Rayos de Hermosillo at the other side still keeps top position with five games lost. They share it with Guasave. Caballeros de Culiacan are looking forward to face Vaqueros (#10) in Agua Prieta in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Rayos de Hermosillo will play at home against Garra Canera de Navolato (#11) and is hoping to win this game.
