Regular Season Round 25: Alcobendas - Almeria 84-58

Leader Alcobendas recorded the twenty third victory on Saturday night. This time they crushed 10th ranked Almeria (9-16) 84-58. The game without a history. Alcobendas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Almeria to just 7 points in third quarter. Alcobendas dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Almeria's 36. They outrebounded Almeria 40-20 including a 33-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Center Marta Garcia (193-86) stepped up and scored 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and center Sara Rodriguez (184-93) chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds. Four Alcobendas players scored in double figures. Alcobendas' coach felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side power forward Alicia Gonzalez (187-86) responded with 13 points and 6 assists and forward Maria Cueto (175-96) scored 12 points and 4 assists. Alcobendas (23-2) have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. They maintain first place in Group B. Almeria lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 16 games lost. Alcobendas will meet Sant Adria (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Almeria will play against the league's second-placed Rivas Promete (#2) and hope to secure a win.
