Regular Season Round 26: Nea Kifisia - Panathinaikos 75-84

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Athens: Panathinaikos (#2) and Nea Kifisia (#6). Nea Kifisia was defeated at home 75-84 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Nea Kifisia. It looked good early as Nea Kifisia took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Panathinaikos had a 21-15 second period charge getting the lead and Nea Kifisia was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 75-84. Panathinaikos dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Nea Kifisia's 22. Panathinaikos forced 20 Nea Kifisia turnovers. Nea Kifisia was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Serbian center Miroslav Raduljica (213-88) scored 19 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and international point guard Nick Calathes (198-89, college: Florida) chipped in 6 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals during the contest. Four Panathinaikos players scored in double figures. American swingman Muhammad El-Amin (196-87, college: Stony Brook, agency: Inception Sports) responded with 24 points and Leonidas Kaselakis (202-90) scored 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panathinaikos (25-1) have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Olympiacos. Nea Kifisia at the other side keeps the sixth place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Kolossos.
