There was no surprise in Galdakao where 9th ranked Arxil Pontevedra (11-14) was crushed by third ranked GDKO Bizkaia (20-5) 70-46 on Saturday. The game without a history. GDKO Bizkaia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Arxil Pontevedra to just 5 points in third quarter. GDKO Bizkaia forced 20 Arxil Pontevedra turnovers. American Margaret Roundtree (183-88, college: Gardner-Webb) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Center Patricia Valiente (185-84, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. Roundtree is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. GDKO Bizkaia's coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Maria Lago (-92) produced 15 points and 6 rebounds and American-Jamaican power forward Yanique Gordon (193-91, college: Cent.Florida) added 11 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. GDKO Bizkaia moved-up to second place in Group A, which they share with Araski AES. Arxil Pontevedra lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 14 games lost. GDKO Bizkaia will face C.Adelantados (#4) in San Cristobal in the next round. Arxil Pontevedra will play at home against the league's second-placed Araski AES (#2) and hope to win that game.
