Everything went according to plan in Marden where top-ranked Flames (4-0) outscored bottom-ranked Panthers (0-4) 85-39 on Saturday. Flames held Panthers to an opponent 21.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 43.5 percent accuracy of the winners. Flames looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Flames made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Stephanie Talbot (188-94) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and American forward Marisa Stabile (182-92, college: Massachusetts) who added 14 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side guard Ieva Nagy (177-91, college: Troy) responded with 21 points and 6 rebounds and Brianna Wedding scored 4 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Flames maintains first position in League with 4-0 record. Loser Panthers still closes the standings with four games lost. Flames will face Rockets (#4) in Adelaide in the next round. Panthers will play on the road against Bearcats (#7) in Woodville and hope to get finally their first victory.
