Regular Season Round 27: Trefl Sopot - Anwil 66-64

There was an upset in Sopot where 4th placed Anwil (21-7) was edged by fifteenth ranked Trefl (7-22) 66-64 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 66-64. Anwil was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American point guard Anthony Ireland (175-91, college: Loyola Mary) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 4 assists. Marcin Dutkiewicz (198-86) helped adding 15 points and 5 rebounds. Trefl's coach Zoran Martic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Czech swingman David Jelinek (196-90) with 12 points and the former international Piotr Stelmach (205-84, college: Mississippi St., agency: BeoExcell) scored 10 points. Trefl maintains fifteenth place with 7-22 record, which they share with Siarka. Anwil at the other side keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. Trefl will face league's second-placed Rosa in Radom in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Anwil will play at home against AZS Polfarmex and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
