We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Vilagarcia Arousa where 10th ranked Cortegada (11-14) was edged by eleventh ranked Badajoz BF (8-17) 63-60 on Saturday. Cortegada was trailing by 9 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 14-8 charge of Badajoz BF, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Cortegada outrebounded Badajoz BF 46-30 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. American swingman Sashana Bucknor (185-90, college: E.Michigan) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Brazilian-Portuguese forward Larisse Lima (185-88) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Badajoz BF players scored in double figures. Senegalese center Amy Syll (196-93) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 17 rebounds and guard Sara Gomez (172-86, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 26 points respectively for lost side. Badajoz BF maintains eleventh place in Group A with 8-17 record. Loser Cortegada dropped to the ninth position with 14 games lost. Badajoz BF will face higher ranked Aros Leon (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
