Regular Season Round 25: Araski AES - RC Celta 72-55

No shocking result in a game in Vitoria-Gasteiz where second ranked Araski AES (20-5) defeated 8th ranked Real Celta Vigo (12-13) 72-55 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Araski AES. Real Celta Vigo was better in third quarter 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Araski AES dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Real Celta Vigo's 22. Argentinian forward Maria Lineira (181-83) fired 15 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Arrate Agirre (175-93) chipped in 14 points and 7 assists. Araski AES's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Maria Ylenia Manzanares (175-83) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and power forward Laura Alonso (179-93) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Araski AES. They maintain second place in Group A with 20-5 record having just three points less than leader Alcobendas, which they share with GDKO Bizkaia. Loser Real Celta Vigo dropped to the seventh position with 13 games lost. Araski AES will face Arxil Pontevedra (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Real Celta Vigo will play against Cortegada and hope to win that game.
