Regular Season Round 5: Rockingham F. - Lakeside L. 113-85
Date: April 9, 2016
There was no surprise in Rockingham where 8th ranked Lightning (2-3) was outplayed by fourth ranked Flames (4-2) 113-85 on Saturday. Flames outrebounded Lightning 57-41 including a 38-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Lightning's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Flames made 8 blocks. American power forward Cooper Land (205-88, college: Wright St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and power forward Chudier Pal (205-91, college: NC-Asheville) chipped in 27 points, 16 rebounds and 6 blocks. Four Flames players scored in double figures. American forward T.J. Hallice (206-92, college: Mercer) responded with 20 points and 8 rebounds and guard Seva Chan (187-94) scored 20 points and 4 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Flames moved-up to third place in League. Loser Lightning dropped to the tenth position with three games lost. Flames will face Buccaneers (#9) in Wonthella in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Lightning will play at home against Eagles and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
