Regular Season Round 5: SW Slammers - Goldfields G. 101-97

There was a surprise result in Bunbury where twelfth ranked Slammers (3-2) beat 3rd placed Giants (4-2) 101-97 on Saturday. American guard Tre Nichols (180-89, college: Boise St.) stepped up and scored 37 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds for the winners and power forward Trent Worthington (206-88) chipped in 13 points and 20 rebounds. American forward Jacob Holmen (202-91, college: N.Texas) responded with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 18 rebounds and the other American import swingman Kenny Manigault (196-91, college: Pikeville) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Giants players scored in double figures. Slammers moved-up to seventh place in League. Loser Giants dropped to the second position with two games lost. Slammers will face league's leader Cougars in Hamilton Hill in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Giants will play at home against Suns and hope to win that game.
