Fifth-ranked Energy Invest (12-13) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Batumi (17-8) in Rustavi on Saturday. The visitors from Batumi managed to secure only one-point victory 69-68. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Energy Invest. The guests trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 69-68. Batumi outrebounded Energy Invest 45-33 including 17 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Akaki Dvalishvili (206-91) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 18 rebounds. Ukrainian forward Leonid Stefanishin (199-85) contributed with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American center Kiel Turpin (213-89, college: Florida St., agency: Three Eye Sports) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and Serbian forward Nikola Gacesa (206-87, college: TCU) added 12 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Energy Invest. Five Energy Invest players scored in double figures. Batumi have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 17-8 record. Energy Invest at the other side keeps the fifth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Mgzavrebi. Batumi are looking forward to face bottom-ranked MIA (#8) in Tbilisi in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Energy Invest will play at home against Mgzavrebi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
