Regular Season Round 5: Ringwood H. - Whittlesea City 123-74

Not a big story in a game in Heathmont where bottom-ranked Whittlesea City (0-4) was rolled over by sixth ranked Ringwood Hawks (3-2) 123-74 on Saturday. Ringwood Hawks dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Whittlesea City's 32 and made 26-of-33 free shots (78.8 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Whittlesea City 48-30 including a 38-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Whittlesea City was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Matthew Snowball stepped up and scored 19 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and power forward Shaun Clarke (204) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Five Ringwood Hawks players scored in double figures. American forward Chris Kaba (203-88, college: N.Colorado) responded with 16 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import guard Ronald Lucas III (193-93, college: Columbus St. CC) scored 23 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ringwood Hawks moved-up to fifth place in League. Loser Whittlesea City still closes the standings with four games lost. Ringwood Hawks will face higher ranked Stingrays (#3) in Geelong in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Whittlesea City will play on the road against the league's second-placed Waverley Falcons (#2) in Mount Waverley and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
