There was a minor upset in Condell Park where 3rd placed Sydney City Comets (3-2) were outplayed by fifth ranked Bankstown Bruins (3-1) 81-62 on Saturday. Bankstown Bruins outrebounded Sydney City Comets 43-31 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Sydney City Comets' players. Forward Clint Reed (198-82, college: Co.Carolina) stepped up and scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Svetomir Gavrilovic chipped in 22 points. Four Bankstown Bruins players scored in double figures. Power forward Tom Dawson (197) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and guard Michael Seckold (190, college: N.Arizona) scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Sydney City Comets' coach tested twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Bankstown Bruins moved-up to third place in League. Loser Sydney City Comets dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. Bankstown Bruins will face Maitland Mustangs (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sydney City Comets will play against Sutherland Sharks (#7) and hope to win that game.
