Regular Season Round 4: Academia - Sabios 81-61

Date: April 9, 2016
There was no surprise in Montana where 7th ranked Sabios (1-3) were crushed by fifth ranked Academia (3-1) 81-61 on Saturday. Academia dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Sabios' 26. They outrebounded Sabios 56-31 including a 39-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Puerto Rican-Dominican forward Jonathan Rodriguez (196-87, college: Campbell) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and the former international power forward Divier Perez (201-89) who added 4 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Canadian guard Ashton Smith (187-89, college: Indiana, PA) responded with 13 points and 4 assists and American forward James Hulbin (203-90, college: Northwestern St.) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Academia have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Condores and Cimarrones. Loser Sabios keep the seventh place with three games lost. Academia will meet bottom-ranked Piratas (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sabios will play against the league's second-placed Condores in Cundinamarca and hope to win that game.
