Regular Season Round 25: Mgzavrebi - Olimpi 89-83

Date: April 9, 2016
Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Tbilisi: Mgzavrebi (#6) and Olimpi (#7). Mgzavrebi (12-13) won against visiting Olimpi (9-16) 89-83. It looked good early as Olimpi took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Mgzavrebi had a 31-19 second period charge getting the lead and Olimpi was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 83-89. Mgzavrebi players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American point guard Kaheem Ransom (185, college: Sam Houston St.) fired 29 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals for the winners. His fellow American import center Reggie Murphy (208-91, college: Henderson St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. The former international guard Lasha Parghalava (191-87, college: Mont.St.-Billings) produced 31 points and 5 assists (made all of his eight free throws) and British V.Islands forward Leslie Smith (203-91, college: Nebraska) added 15 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mgzavrebi moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Rustavi. Olimpi lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 16 games lost. Mgzavrebi's next round opponent will be Energy Invest (#5) in Rustavi. Olimpi will play at home against the league's second-placed Kutaisi and hope to win that game.
