Regular Season Round 25: Rivas Promete - Picken Claret 70-39

Everything went according to plan when third ranked Rivas Promete (19-6) outleveled at home 9th ranked Picken Claret (11-14) 70-39 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Rivas Promete. Picken Claret was better in second period 14-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Picken Claret to just 6 points in third quarter. Rivas Promete held Picken Claret to an opponent 21.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 48.1 percent accuracy of the winners. Rivas Promete forced 26 Picken Claret turnovers and had a 35-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. Guard Regina Gomez (173-82, agency: Josep and Nicolas) fired 19 points and 4 steals for the winners. Power forward Veronica Matoso (185-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Gloria Argente (182-88) produced 10 points and 7 rebounds and forward Estefania Ors (180-97) added 4 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Rivas Promete. They moved-up to second place in Group B. Picken Claret lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with 14 games lost. Rivas Promete will face Almeria (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Picken Claret will play against Olimpico 64 and hope to win that game.
