Second Stage Round 10: T71 - Sparta 104-69
Date: April 10, 2016
No shocking result in a game when second ranked T71 (22-5) crushed 6th ranked Sparta (7-20) in Dudelange 104-69 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by T71. Sparta was better in fourth quarter 21-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. T71 had a 35-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Sparta's players. It was a very good performance for American forward Willis Hall (198-90, college: Charleston, agency: Court Side) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds. International point guard Tom Schumacher (190-87, college: Cal.Baptist) contributed with 13 points and 6 assists for the winners. Four T71 players scored in double figures. The former international Dean Gindt (201-91) replied with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds and American forward Gary Johnson (198-91, college: Albany) added 14 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Sparta. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains second position in League with 22-5 record having just eight point less than leader Residence. Loser Sparta keeps the sixth place with 20 games lost. T71 will face Musel Pikes (#3) in Stadrbredimus in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Sparta will play at home against Basket Esch and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
