There was a surprise result in Geelong where eighth ranked McKinnon C. (2-2) defeated leader Stingrays (4-1) 88-82 on Sunday. McKinnon C. had a 36-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. Stingrays were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Dillon Stith (200, college: St.Vincent) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and his fellow American import guard Casey Walker (196-92, college: Delaware St.) chipped in 26 points and 7 rebounds. American forward Trevon Clayton (198, college: Fresno Pacific) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and power forward Ma'Alo Hicks (201-89) scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. Four Stingrays players scored in double figures. Stingrays' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. McKinnon C. moved-up to sixth place in League. Loser Stingrays dropped to the third position with one game lost. McKinnon C. will face Eltham Wildcats (#11) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Stingrays will play against Ringwood Hawks (#5) in Heathmont and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
