Regular Season Round 5: Mandurah M. - Goldfields G. 104-113

There was no surprise in Mandurah where 11th ranked Magic (1-4) was defeated by third ranked Giants (4-2) 113-104 on Sunday. Giants dominated down low during the game scoring 82 of its points in the paint compared to Magic's 60. Magic was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Jacob Holmen (202-91, college: N.Texas) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners and his fellow American import swingman Kenny Manigault (196-91, college: Pikeville) chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds. American swingman Trevor Setty (203-89, college: Pikeville) responded with 27 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Benjamin Smith (204-88, college: Concordia Irvine) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Magic's coach tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Giants moved-up to second place in League. Loser Magic dropped to the thirteenth position with four games lost. Giants will face Suns (#14) in Kalamunda in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Magic will play at home against Tigers and hope to win that game.
