Very important is a road loss of third ranked Vanoli Cremona (18-9) against fourth ranked Scandone AV (18-9) on Sunday night. Visiting Vanoli Cremona was defeated by Scandone AV in Avellino 84-70. The game was mostly controlled by Scandone AV. Vanoli Cremona was better in fourth quarter 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Scandone AV players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Vanoli Cremona's players. It was an exceptional evening for American-Liberian point guard Joe Ragland (182-89, college: Wichita St.) who led the winners and scored 14 points and 8 assists. International center Riccardo Cervi (214-91) accounted for 17 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Four Scandone AV players scored in double figures. American swingman Deron Washington (201-85, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Priority Sports) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import point guard Markel Starks (188-91, college: Georgetown) added 13 points respectively for Vanoli Cremona in the defeat. Vanoli Cremona's coach rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Scandone AV moved-up to third place, which they share with Vanoli CR. Scandone AV will play against Juvecaserta (#15) in Caserta in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Vanoli Cremona will play at home against Openjobmetis VA (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
