Regular Season Round 5: Nunawading S. - Brisbane S. 86-92

There was a small surprise in East Burwood where fifth ranked Brisbane Spartans (2-2) won against second-ranked Spectres (2-1) 92-86 on Sunday. Guard Isaih Tueta (190-91) stepped up and scored 21 points for the winners and power forward Joshua Tueta (202-89, college: MSU-Northern) chipped in 19 points. Point guard Shane McDonald (188-85, college: Nova SE) responded with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and power forward Simon Conn (206-83, college: Gardner-Webb) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Brisbane Spartans maintains fifth place in League with 2-2 record. Loser Spectres dropped to the fourth position with one game lost. Brisbane Spartans will face Canberra Gunners (#8) in Belconnen in the next round. Spectres will play on the road against Kilsyth Cobras (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
