Regular Season Round 28: Matera - Ferrara 82-88

There was no surprise when 16th ranked Matera (3-25) was defeated at home by eleventh ranked Bondi Ferrara (14-15) 88-82 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Matera won third quarter 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Swedish-American Erik Rush (197-88, college: Montana St.) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Nigerian-American Ike Joseph Udanoh (203-89, college: Wayne St., MI, agency: HMS) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Five Bondi Ferrara players scored in double figures. Bondi Ferrara's coach Alberto Morea used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Czech center Jiri Hubalek (208-82, college: Iowa St., agency: Interperformances) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds and the former international Federico Lestini (204-83, agency: SPORTlab Agency) added 23 points respectively for lost side. Bondi Ferrara maintains eleventh position in A2 with 14-15 record. Loser Matera keeps the sixteenth place with 25 games lost. Bondi Ferrara will face higher ranked Bologna Etern. (#7) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Matera will play against Chieti (#12) and hope to win that game.
