Regular Season Round 54: Fukuoka Rizing - Oita H.Devils 98-104

There was a minor upset when 8th ranked Fukuoka Rizing (17-29) was defeated at home by tenth ranked Oita Heat Devils (15-32) 104-98 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 104-98. Oita Heat Devils looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Fukuoka Rizing was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) who had a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Forward Patrick Simon (203-92, college: Seattle Pacific) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Josh Peppers (201-85, college: Cent.Florida) who recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Donnavan Kirk (206-91, college: Miami, FL) added 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Oita Heat Devils moved-up to ninth place. Fukuoka Rizing at the other side keeps the eighth position with 29 games lost. Oita Heat Devils will face higher ranked Osaka Evessa (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
