Regular Season Round 19: Culiacan - Agua Prieta 97-104

We should mention about the upset which took place in Culiacan, where higher ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (9-7) lost at home to tenth ranked Vaqueros (5-11) 97-104 on Wednesday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Caballeros de Culiacan. Vaqueros made 27-of-35 free shots (77.1 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American forward Sammy Yeager (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) who led his team to a victory scoring 30 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import guard Steven Pledger (193-90, college: Oklahoma) helped adding 22 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side American power forward Benjamin Puckett (205-83, college: Clayton St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds and Trinidad and Tobago-American point guard Ian Young (191-81, college: Auburn, agency: Interperformances) scored 25 points. Four Vaqueros and five Caballeros de Culiacan players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Vaqueros maintains tenth place with 5-11 record. Loser Caballeros de Culiacan keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Vaqueros will meet higher ranked Lobos UAD Mazatlan (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Caballeros de Culiacan will play against Garra Canera de Navolato and hope to secure a win.
