Second Stage Round 6: Hoops - Al Riyadi 85-91

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Beirut: Al Riyadi (#1) and Hoops Club (#3). Hoops Club was defeated at home 85-91 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Hoops Club won third quarter 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Al Riyadi forced 21 Hoops Club turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Hoops Club's players. The former international guard Amir Saoud (187-91) scored 31 points and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Ali Haidar (201-90, college: Michigan Tech) chipped in 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was swingman Khalil Aoun (195-90) with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and Omar Kaissi scored 20 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains first position with 19-3 record. Hoops Club at the other side keeps the third place with 12 games lost.
