Regular Season Round 28: Wilki Morskie - AZS Koszalin 101-73

There was no surprise in Szczecin where 10th ranked AZS Koszalin (13-18) was crushed by seventh ranked Wilki Morskie (18-13) 101-73. The game was mostly controlled by Wilki Morskie. AZS Koszalin was better in third quarter 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Wilki Morskie made 23-of-26 charity shots (88.5 percent) during the game. Wilki Morskie outrebounded AZS Koszalin 43-27 including a 36-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by AZS Koszalin helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by Guinean-American guard Russell Robinson (185-86) who scored that evening 19 points, 7 assists and 5 steals and American Frank Gaines (191-90, college: IPFW, agency: Comsport) supported him with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Wilki Morskie's coach Marek Lukomski felt very confident that he used 10 players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 15 points and 14 rebounds by Czech center Adam Pechacek (207-95) did not help to save the game for AZS Koszalin. Power forward Mikolaj Witlinski (207-95) added 14 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Five Wilki Morskie and four AZS Koszalin players scored in double figures. Wilki Morskie maintains seventh position with 18-13 record. AZS Koszalin lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh place with 18 games lost. Wilki Morskie's next round opponent will be Slask (#14) in Wroclaw and are hoping to win another game. AZS Koszalin will play on the road against Polpharma in Starogard and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
