Regular Season Round 19: Mazatlan - Los Mochis 94-88

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (6-10) were defeated on the road by fourth ranked Lobos UAD Mazatlan (11-7) 94-88 on Wednesday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Lobos UAD Mazatlan looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Pioneros Los Mochis' players. It was a great evening for American power forward Kourtney Roberson (206-90, college: Texas A&M) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Dwayne Mitchell (196-82, college: La-Lafayette) helped adding 16 points and 5 assists. Five Lobos UAD Mazatlan players scored in double figures. At the losing side American Leon Gibson (206-91, college: Houston) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and swingman Miguel Rojo (-91) scored 27 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lobos UAD Mazatlan maintains fourth place with 11-7 record. Loser Pioneros Los Mochis keep the ninth position with ten games lost. Lobos UAD Mazatlan will meet at home Vaqueros (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Pioneros Los Mochis will play against the league's leader Rayos de Hermosillo and hope to secure a win.
