Regular Season Round 24: Hainaut - Arras 63-48
Date: April 13, 2016
Not a big story in a game in Saint-Amand where 13th ranked Arras (4-20) was defeated by tenth ranked Hainaut (9-14) 63-48. The game was mostly controlled by Hainaut. Arras was better in fourth quarter 13-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Arras to just 7 points in third quarter. Hainaut held Arras to an opponent 24.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 41.1 percent accuracy of the winners. The winners were led by the former international swingman Claire Stievenard (184-93, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who scored that evening 10 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Joyce Cousseins-Smith (165-88) supported her with 7 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Hainaut's coach Fabrice Fernandes allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 14 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals by point guard Elodie Mendy (163-94) did not help to save the game for Arras. Canadian forward Stephany Skrba (188-87, college: Michigan) added 7 points and 9 rebounds. Hainaut maintains tenth position with 9-14 record. Arras lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with 20 games lost. Hainaut will play against higher ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (#3) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Arras will play against Basket Landes (#6) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
