The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Olympiacos as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Olympiacos smashed 7th ranked AGOR in Athens 95-59. The game was mostly controlled by Olympiacos. AGOR managed to win second period 23-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Olympiacos dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to AGOR's 26. Olympiacos forced 22 AGOR turnovers and outrebounded them 41-20 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. International forward Kostas Papanikolaou (206-90) orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points and 4 assists. American power forward Hakim Warrick (206-82, college: Syracuse) contributed with 9 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American guard Rashad Madden (196-92, college: Arkansas) replied with 12 points and 7 assists and his fellow American import Tyler Stone (203-91, college: SE Missouri St.) added 15 points in the effort for AGOR. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Olympiacos (25-1) have an impressive 24-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Panathinaikos. AGOR lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with 16 games lost.
