Regular Season Round 28: Ironi Nes-Ziona - Maccabi K/G 70-63

There was a small surprise in Nes Ziyona where twelfth ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona (10-18) defeated bottom-ranked Maccabi K/G (10-18) 70-63 on Thursday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Ironi Nes-Ziona forced 25 Maccabi K/G turnovers. Strangely Maccabi K/G outrebounded Ironi Nes-Ziona 46-34 including 32 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Sundiata Gaines (185-86, college: Georgia) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 5 rebounds and international point guard Yuval Naimy (188-85) who added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Five Ironi Nes-Ziona players scored in double figures. At the losing side American point guard Paul Delaney (188-86, college: UAB, agency: Three Eye Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and his fellow American import power forward Marco Killingsworth (203-82, college: Indiana) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Ironi Nes-Ziona have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Hapoel Holon and Maccabi K/G. Ironi Nes-Ziona will face higher ranked Hapoel Eilat (#4) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Maccabi K/G will play against the league's leader Hapoel Jerusalem (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
