Regular Season Round 26: Cornella - Igualada 71-59

There was an upset when higher ranked Igualada (7-10) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Cornella (2-15) 71-59 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Cornella. Igualada was better in fourth quarter 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cornella dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Igualada's 22. Center Alexandre Sanmartin (202-84) had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and center Fernando Villalon (200-94) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Cornella players scored in double figures. Cornella's coach Jordi Marti allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Center Eduard Tejero (195-92) responded with 8 points and 6 rebounds and guard Samuel Laguarta (182-92) scored 14 points. Cornella maintains tenth position in Group C Titulo with 2-15 record. Newly promoted Igualada keeps the sixth place with ten games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
