There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Canberra Gunners (1-3) won against on the road 5th ranked Brisbane Spartans (2-3) 93-80 on Saturday. Brisbane Spartans were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was center Ben Allen (211-86, college: St.Mary's, CA) who scored 22 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. Swingman Tim Coenraad (201-85, college: Nova SE) chipped in 23 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Isaih Tueta (190-91) who recorded 19 points and 6 assists and naturalized Sudanese swingman Mathiang Muo (196-87, college: Charleston So.) added 19 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Brisbane Spartans' coach let to play twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Canberra Gunners maintains eighth position in League with 1-3 record. Loser Brisbane Spartans dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. Canberra Gunners will face league's leader Geelong Supercats at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Brisbane Spartans will play against Spectres and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
