There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Nationals (0-3) were outleveled on the road by fourth ranked Brisbane Spartans (2-2) 79-54 on Saturday. Brisbane Spartans dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Nationals' 24. Nationals were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Swingman Odette Isaac (179-90) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points and 7 rebounds. Swingman Stephanie Bairstow (188-94, college: Utah St.) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Forward Abbie Davis (182-94) answered with 5 points and 10 rebounds and American power forward Nicole Johnson (188-87, college: Utah St.) added 5 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Nationals. Nationals' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Brisbane Spartans maintains fourth place in League with 2-2 record. Loser Nationals still closes the standings with three games lost. Brisbane Spartans will face league's leader Spectres in East Burwood in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nationals will play at home against Geelong Supercats (#5) and hope to get finally their first victory.
