Regular Season Round 5: Hornsby S. - Illawarra H. 63-68

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when leader Spireds (2-1) lost to second ranked Hawks (2-1) in Hornsby 63-68 on Saturday. Spireds were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Olivia White orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Renae Camino-Garlepp contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Hawks players scored in double figures. Guard Kate Seebohm (170-91, college: California, PA) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Jaimee Kennedy (178-88) added 10 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Spireds. Spireds' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Despite that victory Hawks went down to third position (League) due to points difference. Hawks will face league's leader Hunters in Newcastle in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Spireds will play on the road against Bruins in Condell Park and hope to win that game.
