Regular Season Round 5: SW Slammers - Cockburn C. 67-98

No shocking result in a game when tenth ranked Cougars (2-4) crushed bottom-ranked Slammers (0-5) in Bunbury 98-67 on Saturday. Cougars dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Slammers' 30 and made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Slammers 52-33 including a 37-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Candace Williams (184-88, college: New Hampshire) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 16 rebounds. Her fellow American import forward Cherridy Thornton (185-90, college: Buffalo) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Cougars players scored in double figures. Coach 's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Courtney Bayliss (183-93, college: Our Lady Lake) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and guard Dena English (168, college: Neosho Co.CC) added 20 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Slammers. Cougars maintains tenth place in League with 2-4 record. Loser Slammers still closes the standings with five games lost. Cougars will face higher ranked Lightning (#9) in Bullcreek in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Slammers will play on the road against Eagles in Morley and hope to get finally their first victory.
