Regular Season Round 5: Norwood F. - N.Adelaide R. 76-53

Rather expected game when 4th placed Rockets (3-2) were smashed by leader Flames (5-0) in Marden 76-53 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Flames. Rockets was better in fourth quarter 23-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Flames dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Rockets' 32. They outrebounded Rockets 48-30 including a 36-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Flames looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Rockets' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Flames made 11 blocks. The former international guard Stephanie Talbot (188-94) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Forward Jessica Good (186-94) contributed with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Flames players scored in double figures. Coach 's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Shannon Mckay (-90) answered with 16 points and Opal Mader added 13 points in the effort for Rockets. Flames maintains first place in League with 5-0 record. Loser Rockets keep the fourth position with two games lost. Flames will face Mavericks (#8) in Mt. Barker in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Rockets will play at home against Lions (#9) and hope to win that game.
