Regular Season Round 5: Woodville W. - Sturt S. 50-61

We should not miss a road victory of fifth ranked Sabres (4-1) over 3rd placed Warriors (3-2) 61-50. The game was mostly controlled by Sabres. Warriors was better in third quarter 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Sabres won last quarter 12-2. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Warriors to just 2 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded Warriors 42-30 including 29 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was guard Caroline Burgess (176-82) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. Kate Gladstone (-88) chipped in 9 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Sabres' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Tavarsha Scott-Williams (183, college: Texas A&M) produced 14 points and 7 rebounds and Kimberley Porplycia added 7 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists respectively for the hosts. Sabres moved-up to third place in League. Warriors at the other side dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Sabres' next round opponent will be Tigers (#7) in Morphett Vale. Warriors will play on the road against Panthers in Adelaide and hope to win that game.
