Rather predictable result in Geelong where second ranked Stingrays (6-1) outscored 5th ranked Magic (1-5) 99-78 on Saturday. They outrebounded Magic 58-30 including a 41-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Stingrays looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Jason Reardon (189-83) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. American forward Trevon Clayton (198, college: Fresno Pacific) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points, 21 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Stingrays players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Jarrod O'Shannessy who recorded 20 points and Jack Barry added 15 points and 6 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Stingrays maintains second position in League with 6-1 record having just seven point less than leader Geelong S. Loser Magic dropped to the ninth place with five games lost. Stingrays will face Waverley Falcons (#3) in Mount Waverley in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Magic will play at home against Knox Raiders (#4) and hope to win that game.
