Regular Season Round 28: Toyota Alvark - Chiba Jets 88-81

NBL top team - Toyota Alvark (41-8) added another victory to their record. This time they beat eighth ranked Chiba Jets (20-29) in Tokyo 88-81. The hosts were already 11 points ahead at halftime and as many as 18 after three quarters before a 29-18 last quarter charge of Chiba Jets cut the lead to 88-81 at the end of the game. Toyota Alvark made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for American forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international forward Daiki Tanaka (191-91) contributed with 19 points for the winners. American power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds and international power forward Ryumo Ono (197-88) added 14 points and 5 assists in the effort for Chiba Jets. Four Chiba Jets players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Toyota Alvark have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 41-8 record. Chiba Jets lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 29 games lost. Toyota Alvark's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tokyo Hitachi Sunrockers.
