Undefeated Waverley Falcons (5-1) recorded its first loss in Tullamarine. Visitors were defeated by sixth ranked Hume City Broncos (4-3) 99-88. Strangely Waverley Falcons outrebounded Hume City Broncos 55-39 including 18 on the offensive glass. Waverley Falcons were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American forward Jamal Brown (198-78, college: TCU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds. The other American import guard Jermaine Maybank (193-82, college: Kansas St.) contributed with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Naturalized Croatian forward Ivan Platenik (201-83, college: Alaska-Anch.) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds and forward Chris Arkell (198-90) added 16 points and 16 rebounds in the effort for Waverley Falcons. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hume City Broncos moved-up to fifth place in League. Waverley Falcons at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost. Hume City Broncos will play against Bulleen Boomers (#10) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Waverley Falcons will play against the league's second-placed Stingrays (#2) in Geelong and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
