Regular Season Round 6: Albury W.B. - N W Tasmania 100-101

A very interesting game took place in Albury. It ended with only one-point home defeat of second-best Bandits (2-2) to sixth ranked NW Tasmania Thunder (2-2) 101-100 on Saturday evening. NW Tasmania Thunder outrebounded Bandits 34-23 including 23 on the defensive glass. American forward Garrett Jackson (201-91, college: St.Mary's, CA) notched a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import forward Gary Johnson (198-88, college: Texas) supported him with 35 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. Even 23 points and 8 rebounds by American forward Donte Nicholas (196-87, college: Fresno Pacific) did not help to save the game for Bandits. Point guard Deba George (183-85) added 27 points. Four Bandits players scored in double figures. NW Tasmania Thunder moved-up to fifth place in League. NW Tasmania Thunder's next round opponent will be higher ranked Ballarat Miners (#3) in Wendouree and it may be quite challenging game. Bandits will play on the road against the league's leader Chargers in Hobart and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
