Very predictable result when leader Knox Raiders (5-0) won against on the road 9th ranked Venom (1-4) 61-52 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 61-52. Knox Raiders looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Rebecca Ott orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 7 assists. Forward Lucy Dawson (181-91) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Naturalized Italian guard Nicole Romeo (168-89, college: Washington, agency: Regeneracom Sports) answered with 16 points and 7 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and center Amanda Meinking (192-96) added 2 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Venom. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Knox Raiders keep a position of League leader. Loser Venom keeps the ninth place with four games lost. Knox Raiders will face Tigers (#8) in Melbourne in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Venom will play at home against Whittlesea and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
