Regular Season Round 6: Goldfields G. - Kalamunda E.S. 120-119

Fourteenth-ranked Suns (0-7) made lots of trouble for second ranked Giants (5-2) in Kalgoorlie on Saturday. Giants managed to secure only one-point victory 120-119. However their fans expected much easier game. Giants dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Suns' 48. They outrebounded Suns 56-42 including a 39-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Giants looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists. American forward Jacob Holmen (202-91, college: N.Texas) had a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Jerome Reid (195-96) chipped in 29 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Italian forward Jacopo Marsili (188-86) with 26 points, 6 assists and 4 steals and American guard Brandon McGill (190-89, college: St.Vincent) scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Suns' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Giants maintains second position in League with 5-2 record having just six point less than leader Geelong S. Loser Suns still closes the standings with seven games lost. Giants will meet Hawks (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Suns will play against Tigers (#5) in Willetton and hope to get finally their first victory.
