Regular Season Round 6: SW Slammers - Cockburn C. 83-98

Everything went according to plan in Bunbury where first ranked Cougars (6-1) won against 7th ranked Slammers (3-3) 98-83 on Saturday. Cougars dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Slammers' 52 and made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was swingman Najee Lane (192-88, college: Clark Atlanta) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 22 rebounds. Center Marcus Goode (208-88, college: Benedict) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). At the other side the best for losing team was forward Royal Crouch (193, college: Wayland Baptist) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds and guard Tre Nichols (180-89, college: Boise St.) added 19 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Cougars maintains first position in League with 6-1 record. Loser Slammers dropped to the ninth place with three games lost. Cougars will face Lightning (#8) in North Lake in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Slammers will play on the road against Eagles in Morley and hope to win that game.
