Important game to mention about took place in Alcazar. Second ranked Alcazar (17-6) saved a 3-point victory at home edging top-ranked Albacete (18-4) 76-73 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the ten-game winning streak of Albacete. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in Group B. Albacete was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 21-11 third quarter run of Alcazar. Strangely Albacete outrebounded Alcazar 39-26 including 30 on the defensive glass. American guard Lamonte Thomas (187-90, college: J.and Wales, RI) notched 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and American-Haitian guard Nick LaGuerre (190, college: St.Mary's, MD, agency: Duran International) supported him with 16 points and 4 assists. Four Alcazar players scored in double figures. Even 25 points and 7 rebounds by American guard Garrett Nevels (188-92, college: Hawaii) did not help to save the game for Albacete. Senegalese center Masine Fall (208-93) added 15 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Alcazar have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position in Group B with 17-6 record having just twenty one point less than leader San Fernando. Albacete at the other side still keeps top place with four games lost. Alcazar will play against Tenerife Naut. (#5) in Santa Cruz in the next round. Albacete will play at home against Estudiantes B (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
