No shocking result in a game in Seaford where top-ranked Geelong Supercats (3-0) defeated 5th ranked Frankston Blues (1-3) 90-73 on Saturday. Geelong Supercats dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Frankston Blues' 28. The best player for the winners was forward Ash Cannan (200-82, college: Colorado Christian) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. The former international swingman Nathan Herbert (192-84) chipped in 24 points. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized American swingman Bennie Lewis (203-87, college: Benedict, agency: Warren Sports International) who recorded 21 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and American forward Ishmael Hollis (203-92, college: N.Georgia) added 16 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Geelong Supercats maintains first position in League with 3-0 record. Loser Frankston Blues dropped to the seventh place with three games lost. Geelong Supercats will face Mount Gambier Pioneers (#4) in Mt Gambier in the next round. Frankston Blues will play at home against Dandenong Rangers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
