Regular Season Round 29: ASVEL - Monaco 67-74

Leader Monaco delivered the twenty second victory on Saturday night. This time they beat 6th ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (18-11) 74-67. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-14. But ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket won second period 16-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American Jamal Shuler (191-86) stepped up and scored 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and naturalized Mali forward Amara Sy (202-81, agency: Comsport) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. American point guard Casper Ware (178-90, college: Long Beach St.) responded with 21 points and 6 assists and Australian center David Andersen (213-80) scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Monaco. Newly promoted Monaco maintains first place with 22-7 record. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket at the other side keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Gravelines. Monaco will meet at home Olympique Antibes (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket will play against STB Le Havre (#18) and hope to secure a win.
