There was an upset when higher ranked Eltham Wildcats (0-6) were defeated at home by eighth ranked McKinnon C. (3-2) 78-63 on Saturday. McKinnon C. had a 32-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was forward Alex Bogart-King (200) who scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. The former international center Axel Dench (211-76, college: Gonzaga) chipped in 6 points and 13 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Jordan Canovan who recorded 24 points and 5 rebounds and Benjamin Waldren added 15 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. McKinnon C. moved-up to sixth place in League. Loser Eltham Wildcats still closes the standings with six games lost. McKinnon C. will face Ringwood Hawks (#7) in Heathmont in the next round.
